SF is a great town for walking around in, allowing for the occasional 60 degree inclines. didn't throw down for the transit pass this month, so I'm finding myself on foot & realizing that there aren't all that many pedestrians to contend with. everyone's got a friggin car which leaves the sidewalks all to myself ...and it's been raining here for the past week. i'm in paradise.

i remain conditioned from my time in HK to expect dead stops, random veering, abrupt directional changes, ill-guided expectorations, and my personal favorite, the 4-abreast-we-don't-give-a-shit-about-anyone-else-sharing-the-sidewalk routine--those fucking filipino servants that commandeer all manner of public areas are the most irredeemably careless/oblivious people i've ever encountered. a general class statement. i was an incident away from pulling a DC sniper redux before leaving. walking etiquette also closely parallels driving norms in society--NoCal wins top marks for polite & alert discourse on the roads & pavement. maybe it's that local gay sensibility coming to the fore.
